Is murder a sport? Would having your child's throat slashed be a party game? Yesterday I had a physical response to the embrace of evil.
A beautiful young girl filled with life, hope and promise dressed for Halloween, drawn on her throat a gruesome slash and blood spilling out.
A few yrs ago my daughter had a large hole cut in her neck too, to save her life. There is a huge scar there, in fact it has formed a keloid that continues to grow and when I see it I get teary eyed.
Death, dying and gore... we are playing a dangerous game when our culture embraces the worst things we can possibly imagine as childs play. With the resurgence of a death culture that celebrates vampires, zombies and all sorts of undead creatures. I wonder when did the someones worst day ever become sport for the rest of us.
If you really did experience a day that looked like the things you playact would it not be the worst day in your life?
Oh that we would only exalt life and the beauty of it. That we would be purposeful in enjoying it. That we would give ourselves to living and creating beauty in those around us.
That we would recognize this cultural switch for what it is, exalting evil and one who comes to kill, steal and destroy.
That in darkness we would lift up, exalt and fix our eyes on the giver of life.
I will lift up my eyes to the hills from whence cometh my help, my help comes from the Lord who made heaven and earth.
