Since Doug has been laid off for a year I've been picking up the money slack here and there. So, when the opportunity to help bring a group of Chinese students to Lebanon for a 2 week exchange presented itself I thought, that sounds perfect. There were supposed to be 25 kids in the group. I was assigned this group kinda last minute, so I hit the ground running. But my time to find families has fallen over Christmas and New Years. That kinda puts a kink in things. People really just want to relax. Not think of taking Chinese kids home. :) Can't really blame them. So, here we are 3 wks from arrival date and I'm only slightly panicky. Ha
Yesterday I got the profiles of the kids coming. They had each written letters to their prospective host families. After reading several them I had misty eyes and I remembered why I love this type of work. I remembered how great the Love of the Father is. That while we were still sinners Christ Died for Us.

Ok...you kinda left us hanging here...I was waiting to hear about the letters, and the experience you guys had. (I know it was a tough time while they were with you because of the health of your mom) so I'm wondering if that's why there isn't more written here.
ReplyDeletePlease share more. Some day I'd like to host exchange students, so I'd love to hear about your experience.
You are right, it did get left. I intended to blog it all and then mom got sicker, the kids came, mom died on their 2nd day here. My mom died at 5am and I took 40 Chinese kids to the coast that day.
ReplyDeleteThank you, I will be writing a synopsis. It was a very fruitful time and I thoroughly enjoyed the girls who stayed with us.
